Wellbeing: Being responsible

By Year 5, children are more independent so this topic focuses on the increased responsibility that accompanies this, including the responsibility to keep themselves, safe and happy. Through understanding how their actions affect the outcomes of a given situation, they see how they are in charge of their own destiny, whether it’s how well they make friends, what goals they achieve and even how they feel.

Focus on trial and error maths problems to think about the positive side of failure, as well as learning about the achievements of some inspirational individuals whose failures led them to great successes.

Lesson 5: Healthy body, healthy brain: Importance of rest

Consider the factors that affect sleep to help create a comedy video guide on how to get the best night’s sleep possible.

Lesson 6: Relaxation: Yoga

After going through a relaxing yoga session, consider when, where and how to use relaxation techniques within our daily lives.
