RSE & PSHE: Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) alignment

This document shows how Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE scheme supports the safeguarding expectations set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2026. It is intended for teachers, curriculum leads, designated safeguarding leads and headteachers, providing information to show how curriculum learning contributes to preventative safeguarding.

The statutory Relationships and Health Education guidance requires schools to teach content that supports preventative safeguarding. Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE scheme progressively develops pupils’ knowledge and skills to recognise risks, understand healthy relationships, respect boundaries, seek help and stay safe online and offline.

How to use this document

  • Section 1: How Kapow Primary supports KCSIE expectations – explains how Kapow’s RSE and PSHE scheme supports key safeguarding expectations, including the teaching approaches and guidance available to schools.
  • Section 2: RSE & PSHE curriculum coverage and progression provides detailed mapping of where relevant knowledge and skills are taught across Years 1–6 and how learning develops over time.

This document complements Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE: Statutory guidance coverage document. It does not replace schools’ safeguarding policies and procedures.
