Ella Finney, Assistant Curator, The Garden Museum explains the work of a curator

This Kapow History video introduces pupils to the role of a curator through an engaging interview with Ella Finney of the Garden Museum, who shares her passion for museums, exhibitions and storytelling. She explains how curators work with historians, artists and scientists to research and present historical objects, ensuring artifacts are preserved and made accessible to the public.

The discussion explores how exhibitions use primary and secondary sources to tell diverse and inclusive stories, how curators protect fragile objects and the different ways museums make history engaging. Pupils will gain insight into museum curation as a career, learning how exhibitions shape our understanding of the past.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s History in Action series, helping pupils discover how history is researched, interpreted and shared through museums and exhibitions.
