Respecting different beliefs early

This Religion and worldviews video introduces teachers to the What makes us special unit, which supports the teaching of two Development Matters statements. The video explores how to help children understand that people have different beliefs, including belief in God, and that others may have thoughts and ideas different from their own. It highlights how to foster respect, promote inclusive discussions, and guide children in talking about who and what makes them special, including those who care for others in the community. The video also covers using age-appropriate stories, visual aids, and questioning techniques to support learning through the Characteristics of Effective Learning.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Religion and worldviews resources – humans. It helps teachers feel confident when addressing misconceptions, encouraging open-mindedness, and supporting early learning goals for understanding the world through cross-curricular and continuous provision activities, such as the Wonderbox and community visits.
