A guide to using Tinkercad to design a micro:bit case
In this Design and technology video, teachers are introduced to the key tools in Tinkercad that support pupils in creating 3D designs. It demonstrates how children use the workplane to build their models by selecting and resizing shapes, adjusting height, and viewing their designs from different angles using the view cube. The video also shows how pupils can personalise their work by adding features from the design library.
The video explains how to edit and refine designs by grouping shapes, creating holes using hollow shapes, and combining objects using tools like union and bundle group. It also highlights how children can change colours, adjust transparency and add details such as windows, helping them develop both creative and technical skills in 3D design.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Design and technology videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore and make their own products.
