A guide to using Tinkercad to design a micro:bit case

In this Design and technology video, teachers are guided through the process of creating a Tinkercad account and how to share the code with a class so they can join a Tinkercad classroom. It also instructs teachers on how to save a design and share it with their class as an activity for them to edit.

The video explains how to use Tinkercad, a child-friendly online 3D design tool, to set up and run a classroom lesson. Teachers create a class using a teacher account, enable safe mode and generate login codes so pupils can join. Children then use a shared micro:bit design to ‘copy and tinker’ on their own workplanes. This video explains how to use the workplane, create new 3D shapes and place, move, resize, rotate, cut and duplicate them.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Design and technology videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore and make their own products.
