Exploring progression in the Staying safe strand

This RSE & PSHE video provides an overview of Kapow Primary’s Staying safe key area and explores how pupils develop the knowledge and skills needed to recognise risks, understand boundaries and make safe choices. It highlights how learning supports statutory Relationships and Health Education content, including mental wellbeing, personal safety, first aid and physical health.

The video outlines progression from Key stage 1 to Key stage 2, showing how pupils build confidence in recognising unsafe situations, seeking help, managing risks and responding to emergencies. It also explores how learning develops across areas such as personal boundaries, road and water safety, medicines and drugs, helping pupils become increasingly independent, responsible and prepared for life beyond primary school.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s RSE & PSHE videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore growth and change and help develop personal, social and emotional skills, as well as an understanding of relationships and health education.
