An overview of Microsoft MakeCode and its key features

This Design and technology teacher video introduces Microsoft MakeCode and provides an overview of its main features. It supports teachers in becoming familiar with the coding environment by explaining how to access saved projects, start new projects and navigate the different areas of the program.

The video explores the key features of MakeCode, including the coding workspace, block menu and micro:bit simulator. Teachers are guided through creating a simple sequence of code to display two different icons on the micro:bit’s LED display, building confidence in using MakeCode and supporting pupils as they begin to develop their coding skills.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Design and technology videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore and make their own products.
