Introducing Indian Bollywood music
This Music video introduces teachers to the start of the Year 5 unit on Indian music. The opening lesson provides an introduction to Bollywood, beginning with a listening task and a short exploration of the history and features of Bollywood films. Pupils then learn some simple Bollywood dance moves using the tutorial provided before listening to the specially composed piece Indian Fantasy, which they will revisit throughout the unit.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Music scheme – notes. It supports teachers with clear guidance on how to introduce pupils to Bollywood culture in a manageable and engaging way, ensuring they feel confident to deliver the lesson, even if dance is outside their comfort zone.
