Teaching the lead Indian fantasy

This Music video introduces teachers to the lead part of Indian Fantasy, supporting pupils in using their knowledge of staff notation and performance directions. The video shows how children can decode the three main tunes by working through the notes, singing them, and then applying this knowledge to their instruments. Teachers are guided in encouraging pupils to factor in performance directions such as mezzo forte, piano, crescendo markings, and accents, helping them to play with greater expression.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Music scheme – notes. It ensures teachers feel confident when teaching pupils to read music without letter prompts, apply performance directions, and build fluency in playing a full piece from staff notation. It prepares the class to move on to harmony parts in the following lesson.

Music, KS2 Whole-class instrumental lessons, Instrumental lessons, Unit 5: India (Instrumental lessons), Lesson 3: Indian fantasy
