Helping children explore diversity in church styles and features
This Religion and worldviews video helps teachers introduce Year 1 and Year 2 pupils to different types of Christian places of worship. It explores how churches can vary in appearance, layout and design while still sharing important beliefs and traditions linked to Christian worship.
The video introduces common features found in some churches, including altars, lecterns, pulpits, fonts and stained glass windows, helping teachers understand their purpose and how they may support worship and reflection. It also explores similarities and differences between churches and other places of worship, encouraging teachers to help children make thoughtful comparisons and recognise the diversity within Christianity.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s KS1 Religion and worldviews videos, which support teachers in developing pupils’ understanding of Christian worship, religious diversity and the ways special places can reflect beliefs, values and traditions.
