Designing spaces with colour

This archived Art and design scheme of work video introduces teachers to a lesson inspired by the work of contemporary designers Morag Myerscough and Luke Morgan, who transform spaces using colour, shape, and typography. It encourages Key stage 2 pupils to respond to a design brief, considering the purpose and context of their ideas. The video demonstrates each step, from exploring examples of design in public spaces to sketching shapes and colours for their chosen room, and presenting and justifying creative choices as part of the design process.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s original KS2 Art and design resources. It supports teachers in inspiring pupils with real-world design practice, encouraging them to think like professional designers while developing their own creativity, problem-solving skills, and aspirations within the creative and cultural industries.
