This Design and technology video introduces the children to technology and explains that it is anything people create to solve a problem or make life easier. Through everyday examples, the children discover that technology comes in many forms, from simple objects such as pencils to more complex inventions such as high-speed trains.

The video also introduces digital technology, showing how some technologies use computers to carry out tasks or improve the way they work. By exploring familiar examples, the children begin to understand that technology is part of everyday life and supports the way people work, learn and play.
