Exploring what fabric is and where it comes from

In this Design and technology video, the pupils are introduced to fabric as a material that can be used to make a range of commonly used items. The pupils then learn that fabric is made from threads that can come from natural or human-made sources.

The video showcases various common sources of fabric, including wool, cotton, silk and synthetics. The video also relates these fabric types to traditional uses from around the world, such as colourful dyed woollen items made in South America and shiny, silk clothing made in China and India.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Design and technology videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore and make their own products.
