Rebirth and the cycle of life

This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow Religion and worldviews scheme of work. It explores beliefs from Dharmic religions about the cycle of birth, life, death, and reincarnation. This cycle is known as samsara by many Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists. The idea of being reborn after death shapes how some people choose to live their lives.

Many believe that the way a person acts — their words, thoughts and deeds — creates karma, which affects how they are reborn. Good actions can lead to better lives in the future. Some believe the goal is to escape the cycle altogether, either to reunite with God or to reach a peaceful state called enlightenment. These beliefs encourage people to be kind, responsible and thoughtful, knowing their actions matter — now and in the future.

The video is designed to be shown to pupils as part of Religion and worldviews, key stage 2, Year 5, What happens when we die? (Part 2), Lesson 2: What is samsara?
