Visiting the Western Wall

This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow Religion and worldviews scheme of work. It follows a traveller exploring the Jewish and Christian importance of the Western Wall and other sacred sites in Jerusalem. The video shows how visiting these places can help people feel connected to history, faith, and community, even if they do not follow a religion themselves.

The Western Wall in Jerusalem is a very special place for many Jewish people. It is the only part that remains of the Second Temple, which was destroyed nearly two thousand years ago. The Temple once stood on a platform called the Temple Mount and was believed to be the most sacred place where people could connect with God. Today, visitors from all over the world come to the Western Wall. Some pray, others leave messages on slips of paper between the stones. This video explains how this tradition helps people remember and reflect, and how the history of the Temple still matters to people today.
