Sewa: helping through kindness

This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow Religion and worldviews scheme of work. It explores the Sikh practice of Sewa, which means service. Sewa is about helping others with love and respect, and taking care of the world that God created. One pupil explains how they clean local parks with their friends as a way of showing care for the environment.

In their gurdwara, they help prepare and serve food in the Langar, a community kitchen where anyone can eat. This shows fairness, kindness, and equality. Other ways of doing Sewa include teaching Gurmukhi so others can pray, sharing musical skills, or donating money to help people in need. Sewa reminds Sikhs to use their time, skills, and resources to support others, because everyone has different needs and every kind action matters.
