The legend of Romulus and Remus

This History video tells the legendary story of how the city of Rome was founded by twin brothers Romulus and Remus, sons of a princess and the Roman god of war, Mars.

Year 3 and 4 pupils learn how the twins were abandoned as babies, rescued by a she-wolf and raised by a shepherd. As they grew up, they discovered their royal heritage, helped their grandfather regain his throne and set out to build a new city. The story explains how disagreement between the brothers led to a tragic ending, with Romulus becoming the founder and first king of Rome, a city named in his honour.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s History Year 3 and 4 videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore the past and understand how it has shaped the world today.
