Connecting the micro:bit to a desktop or laptop.

This Computing video shows pupils how to connect a BBC micro:bit to a laptop or desktop computer so they can begin programming. It explains how to use a USB cable (and an adapter if using a Mac) to power the micro:bit and transfer code from a computer. The video models the pairing process step by step, from selecting the device through the software menu to downloading a program. Pupils see how the indicator lights show when the micro:bit has power and when data is being transferred. It also demonstrates how to attach a battery pack so the micro:bit can be used independently.

This video is part of the Year 5 Programming 2:BBC micro:bit unit. It provides clear guidance, helping pupils feel confident as they set up their device and prepare to run their programs.
