How to thread a needle with wool and make a row of stitches

In this Design and technology video, the pupils learn how to thread a large-eyed needle with wool and to make a row of stitches in embroidery fabric.

The video shows pupils how to hold wool near its end and push it through the eye of a large plastic sewing needle. The pupils are then guided to push the needle through a hole in the embroidery fabric, tie a short tail to the back and then put the needle back down through a different hole to create a single stitch. Finally, the video demonstrates how to continue this process to create a row of stitches, known as a running stitch.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Design and technology videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore and make their own products.
