A guide to making a simple push switch with split pins and a paperclip

In this Design and technology video, the pupils are shown a method for making a simple push switch with a paperclip and how to incorporate this into a circuit.

The video shows the steps of making the push switch using a card base, two split pins and a paperclip. Pupils are shown how to connect their push switches into a simple electrical circuit with a bulb and battery. They are shown how to test the functionality of the switch by pushing down on the paperclip to complete the circuit, making a buzzer sound.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Design and technology videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore and make their own products.
