Shaded by a cobra snake

This Kapow pupil video is part of the Kapow Religion and worldviews scheme of work. It tells a story from the Sikh worldview about Guru Nanak and how something surprising made people believe he was a very special child.

One hot day, Guru Nanak was resting under a tree. As the sun moved, its shade disappeared. A cobra slithered nearby and lifted its hood over Guru Nanak to protect him from the sun. A village leader saw this and was amazed. Cobras are usually dangerous, but this one was peaceful and gentle. The leader believed that for a snake to protect a child, Guru Nanak must be someone truly special. This story helps people in the Sikh worldview understand Guru Nanak’s importance.

The video is designed to be shown to pupils as part of Religion and worldviews, Key stage 1, Year 2, *Updated* How do we know some people feel a special connection to a god? Lesson 3: How do religious stories show some people are special?
