Understanding how gurdwaras support the Sikh community
This Religion and worldviews video helps children understand how Sikhs use gurdwaras for worship, learning and community events. It introduces some important Sikh practices and explains how people demonstrate shared values of respect and equality inside a gurdwara.
The video looks at how Sikhs prepare before entering the gurdwara and the importance of the Guru Granth Sahib. Pupils will also learn about langar, where people share food together, and see how gurdwaras can help people feel peaceful, welcome and connected to others.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s KS1 Religion and worldviews videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore different beliefs, values and traditions and develop respect and understanding for people of all faiths and worldviews.
