Protecting against germs

This RSE & PSHE video introduces pupils to germs and explains that bacteria and viruses are different types of germ. Pupils learn that some bacteria are useful, while other bacteria and viruses can cause illnesses. The video explores how germs can spread from person to person, through the air and by touching hands, surfaces and shared objects.

Pupils discover how good hygiene can help protect themselves and others. They learn why it is important to wash their hands with soap and water, use a tissue or elbow when coughing and sneezing, and clean frequently touched surfaces. The video also explains how opening windows and doors allows fresh air to circulate and reduces the amount of germs in an indoor space.
