Sikh Beliefs and the Mughal Empire
This History video helps Key stage 2 children explore how Sikhism developed during the Mughal Empire and how Sikhs stood up for religious freedom, fairness and compassion. It introduces important events in Sikh history, including the sacrifices of Guru Arjan Dev Ji and Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, who gave their lives to protect people’s right to follow their own beliefs. The video also explains how Guru Gobind Singh Ji formed the Khalsa to resist injustice and how Maharaja Ranjit Singh led the Sikh Empire with fairness and respect for all religions. It shows how Sikh teachings of equality and kindness inspired people during difficult times and supported the creation of a more peaceful society.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s History Year 5 and 6 videos, which enable teachers and pupils to explore the past and understand how it has shaped the world today.
