How websites data travel across the internet

This Computing video shows the children how website data travels across the internet from a server to a device. The children learn that when a website is requested, its data is broken into smaller pieces called data packets, which can contain text, images and videos.

The video follows a request through a router to a server before showing how the website data is divided into packets and sent across the internet. The children discover how these packets travel across a network before being put back together in the correct order by the receiving device, helping them understand how website content reaches them.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Computing videos, which help pupils develop their understanding of computer systems and digital technology. It encourages children to recognise how computers are used in everyday life and the different ways they can help us.
