Wet on dry and wet on wet
This Art and design video demonstrates two key watercolour techniques: wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry. Children follow simple step-by-step demonstrations showing how each technique is created and observe the different effects they produce.
The video shows how applying paint to wet paper creates soft, blended colours, while painting onto dry paper produces crisp, defined shapes, lines and textures. Pupils can compare the results of each technique and begin to understand when they might choose one over the other.
By watching the demonstrations, children develop confidence in using both techniques before applying them in their own work.
