Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support

Could be given more than one animal picture card for the animal riddle paired task and generate one clue for each instead of several clues for one card; could label their animal drawings instead of writing complete sentences for task one.

Pupils working at greater depth

Should perform their animal riddles starting with more difficult clues and progressing to easier ones; should choose animals from three different animal groups for task one; should include the names of the animals, label their body parts and include additional information about diet, habitat or behaviour, for example, ‘I am a carnivore, I live in the sea, I hunt underwater for my prey (shark)’.
