Children at the expected level of development will:
- Talk about the lives of the people around them and their roles in society.
People, culture and communities
- Know some similarities and differences between different religious and cultural communities in this country, drawing on their experiences and what has been read in class.

Support and challenge
- Provide an A3 copy of the Resource: Symbols and ask the children to place the loose items over the top of their chosen symbol.
- Provide a smaller selection of materials for the children to choose from.
- Challenge children to create a symbol to represent something or somewhere special to them.
