Adaptive teaching
Children who need support:
- Could use the Resource: Warning signs to identify inside and outside warning signs by matching each example before applying this to their case.
- Could use sentence starters to explain their ideas to a partner or adult by completing such as “This is a warning sign because…” before writing independently on the evidence log.
- Could highlight key parts of the scenario to identify evidence by focusing on one sentence at a time before recording ideas.
Children working at greater depth:
- Should compare inside and outside warning signs to justify why a situation is unsafe by using comparative sentence starters such as “This is more serious because…”.
- Should infer additional warning signs not shown on the evidence cards by explaining what might happen next in the situation.
