Responding to ‘big questions’
Each unit develops the strands of the R&W curriculum. As pupils improve their skills in these strands, they should be able to draw upon their knowledge to form thoughtful responses to some of life’s big questions.
Each of the ‘big questions’ is revisited at least twice in each key stage. This approach allows children to consider, discuss and answer these questions with increasing depth, drawing on a broader range of knowledge and understanding as they progress.
Providing regular opportunities for pupils to consider these questions, in light of substantive, disciplinary, and personal knowledge, prepares them for the challenges of living in an increasingly complex and diverse world. Furthermore, this approach helps foster balanced and informed dialogues about religion and worldviews.
