Teacher video: Legacy

This History scheme of work video supports teachers in delivering a lesson helping pupils evaluate the Roman legacy in Britain and understand the lasting effects of Roman rule.

The video begins with a historical overview, setting the context of the Roman Empire’s decline and the withdrawal of Roman forces from Britain in 410 AD. Pupils learn how the absence of Roman protection left Britain vulnerable to invasions, creating the conditions for significant change. The lesson explores the abstract but vital concept of ‘legacy’, defined as a lasting impact left by people or events from the past and supports pupils in identifying how Roman contributions shaped Britain.

D&T Textiles – Shaping fabric

This DT video supports pupils in developing their fabric shaping skills. It provides step-by-step guidance on how to cut fabric accurately and safely, including how to handle pins, trim around curves, and check precision using templates. Pupils are encouraged to take their time, ask for help when needed, and refine their cutting technique for greater control and success.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Design and Technology Textiles strand. It helps teachers support pupils in building practical skills, boosting confidence when working with fabric and tools.

D&T Textiles – Pinking

This Design and Technology video introduces pupils to the technique of pinking in textiles. It explains that pinking refers to cutting a zigzag or scalloped edge using pinking shears, which can be used as a decorative design feature. The video highlights the importance of cutting through both sides of the fabric for best results and includes a reminder to handle the shears carefully.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Design and Technology Textiles resources. It supports teachers in helping pupils develop decorative fabric techniques safely and confidently.
