This History resource is designed to support the pupils as they explore personal history and how their experiences contribute to the past. Knowledge organiser: Art and design – Y1 Craft and design

A Knowledge Organiser that captures the essential knowledge and skills learnt throughout the unit Art and Design, Year 1, Craft and Design.

 

This resource is designed to support pupils as they explore a range of craft techniques and materials. It introduces vocabulary and practical actions including wrap wool, make a knot, make a plait, cut, thread beads, and weave, along with key terminology such as warp and weft used in textile work. Pupils also learn about artists Judith Scott and Cecilia Vicuña, using their work as inspiration to develop fine motor skills and creativity. The unit provides visual prompts and concise labels to reinforce technique and understanding, making it ideal for building early artistic confidence and craft-based language.
