This resource is designed to support children as they compare toys from different eras, from the 1920s to the present day. It introduces key observations about materials, mechanisms, and manufacturing methods, highlighting how older toys were handmade from wood or metal and moved by hand, while modern toys are often plastic, machine-made, and powered by batteries to move or produce sounds. The unit encourages pupils to think critically about similarities and differences over time, using visual timelines and prompts to develop their historical understanding and vocabulary.
