Teaching mixing techniques
This Design and technology video introduces teachers to the progression of mixing skills in primary cooking lessons, equipping them with the knowledge to support children in using a range of techniques to combine ingredients effectively. It covers early mixing and mashing in Reception, introduces kneading, rubbing in, and whisking in Key Stage 1, and progresses to combining for texture and folding with care in Key Stage 2. Teachers are guided through the purpose of each method and how to model them clearly for pupils.
