Preparing a seasonal tart
This Design and technology scheme of work video shows the children how to prepare ingredients for a seasonal tart using a range of safe food preparation skills. It shows the key processes of cutting tomatoes, grapes and courgettes using bridge and claw techniques with a vegetable knife and appropriate chopping boards. It also demonstrates techniques such as peeling carrots, cucumber and apples with a vegetable peeler, grating ingredients safely and snipping herbs and vegetables using kitchen scissors.
The video illustrates each preparation step clearly so the children feel confident and well prepared to make their seasonal tart independently in the lesson and unit below.
