Recap and recall

Display the Presentation: Meeting new people. Establish that this is an outline map of Spain showing the locations of Madrid, the capital city, and Pamplona. Children in Year 4 may recall this city as the inspiration for the puppets they modelled as part of Year 3/4(A): Unit 1: Spanish greetings with puppets.

Adaptive teaching

Pupils needing extra support

Should use the audio in the presentations to listen and rehearse vocabulary multiple times; could make introductions using their own name rather than the selection from the presentation.

Pupils working at greater depth

Could be encouraged to present and practise other phrases about themselves they may have previously learnt, for example, giving their age; could work together to create a word wall of known vocabulary containing the key phoneme a.
