French art collage lesson

This French scheme of work video introduces teachers to the skills needed to combine art and language learning by creating Matisse-inspired collages. It explores how to give short, simple instructions in French supported by visual demonstration, encouraging pupils to follow along confidently while revising familiar vocabulary. The video demonstrates each step, from choosing animals, colours and shapes, to cutting and sticking to create an original composition.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Language teacher video resources. It simplifies the process, ensuring teachers feel confident and prepared to support the pupils in cross-curricular learning. With opportunities to give titles and signatures to their artwork in French, and to turn the classroom into a gallery, the lesson makes language learning creative, visual and memorable.
