Understanding networks
This Computing scheme of work video helps pupils understand what a network is and why it matters.
It explains that a network is a group of connected devices—like computers, tablets, and phones—that can share information. Children learn how networks power everyday activities such as video calls, online gaming, and searching the internet. The video introduces the internet as a very large network.
The video uses the image of a spider’s web to show how networks grow as more devices are added. It also introduces the idea of different types of networks, including home networks, school networks and the global internet, as well as how firewalls help keep them safe. The video is part of the Year 3 Computing systems and networks 1: Networks unit.
