What is it like to be a web developer?

This Computing scheme of work video gives the children a behind-the-scenes look at the life of a web developer. It follows Jaz, a developer who designs websites and apps for learning, gaming and video sharing, helping the children understand what the job involves.

The video shows how each day begins with a team meeting to plan ideas and discuss projects. The children learn that web developers use coding languages (such as HTML) to build the structure and design of websites, using commands and tags to tell the computer what to do. Jaz explains that web development involves more than writing code. It also includes testing, problem-solving and debugging.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Year 4 Skills Showcase: HTML unit. It helps pupils link classroom learning to real-life jobs in the digital world, showing how coding skills can lead to exciting and rewarding careers.
