Teaching coding
This Computing scheme of work video introduces teachers to the skills needed to support pupils in understanding the fundamentals of coding. It helps teachers feel confident guiding the children as they explore how computers follow instructions, how coding is used in everyday life and how to write simple programs to develop computational thinking and problem-solving skills.
The video demonstrates how coding transforms instructions into actions, using real-world examples such as traffic lights, apps and digital appliances. It provides practical strategies for helping the children progress from simple algorithms in Key stage 1 to designing, writing and debugging programs in Key stage 2.
