Beliefs about death and afterlife

This Religion and worldviews video introduces teachers to the unit “How and why are we here?” and supports children in exploring beliefs about death, the afterlife and the soul across a range of religious and non-religious worldviews. It equips teachers to guide pupils through key concepts including judgment, atonement, resurrection, and purgatory by comparing beliefs from Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Zoroastrian and humanist perspectives. The video also explains how festivals such as Yom Kippur and Día de los Muertos offer opportunities for reflection, remembrance and spiritual preparation. Teachers are supported in approaching sensitive topics with compassion and clarity.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Religion and worldviews resources – death. It simplifies complex and sensitive ideas, ensuring teachers feel confident and prepared to help children explore belief, death and personal meaning in the lesson and unit below.
