Investigating how our local woodland is used
In this Geography video, teachers are supported in delivering a structured outdoor fieldwork enquiry focused on observing and analysing how local woodlands are used.
The video shows how pupils can gather data using tally charts, questionnaires, annotated sketches and route maps on a provided woodland base map, with safety prioritised through pre-fieldwork risk assessments and route planning. It explains how to develop pupils’ fieldwork and map-reading skills and guide reflection on the public use of natural spaces. Teachers are shown how pupils can analyse and present findings using bar charts, sketches, quotes and annotated maps.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Geography fieldwork videos and develops pupils’ data collection, critical thinking and communication skills.
