RFID data at theme parks

This Computing video supports teachers in guiding the children in exploring how RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology is used in real-world contexts.

The video demonstrates how RFID wristbands are used at Walt Disney World Resort to enable contactless payments, room access and digital queuing for attractions. It shows how RFID enhances visitor experiences by making processes more efficient and personalised. The video guides teachers in supporting the children to analyse real-world queue time data from the theme park and represent it using graphs to understand visitor flow. The lesson builds data analysis and digital systems understanding, supporting the children in interpreting live data and preparing them for the next stage, which is investigating how digital systems store and use big data.

This video is part of the Year 6 Data handling 1: Big Data 1 unit, supporting the children to develop their understanding of data and its uses in real-world systems.
