UKS2 Sex education
This RSE & PSHE video aimed at parents and carers, explains the optional Upper Key Stage Two Sex education unit. While not mandatory, many schools choose to include this unit to help children understand reproduction and prepare for growing up. The teaching covers basic concepts like how babies are made through fertilisation, pregnancy, and birth, using age-appropriate language and diagrams. Students learn correct vocabulary for body parts and reproduction, including terms like sperm, egg, and fertilisation. The curriculum also reinforces important lessons about consent, personal boundaries, and respectful relationships, reminding children of their right to feel safe and to speak to trusted adults when needed. This video emphasises that this education provides reliable, factual information in a safe environment, countering potentially confusing or inaccurate information children might receive elsewhere.
