UKS2 Growing up
This RSE & PSHE video aimed at parents and carers, explains the Upper Key Two Growing Up unit, which covers puberty, emotional changes, and personal boundaries as part of relationship, sex, and health education. The unit teaches children about physical and hormonal changes during puberty in an age-appropriate way, including body changes like growing taller, developing body hair, voice changes, and reproductive development. Students learn practical skills for managing periods and understanding emotional changes, while being reassured that these changes are normal parts of growing up. The lessons emphasise correct vocabulary, personal safety, respectful behaviour and the importance of speaking to trusted adults. The content uses fictional scenarios to create safe discussion spaces and aims to provide reliable information to counter potentially confusing sources children might encounter elsewhere. This video provides guidance for parents on supporting learning at home and references additional resources like the Parent zone for further information about RSE and PSHE education.
