Analysing data from transport networks
This Computing video supports teachers in delivering a lesson on data analysis using real-world transport information. Pupils will use a spreadsheet to explore questions from fictional commuters on the London Underground, identifying quieter stations and making informed travel choices based on historical passenger data. The lesson introduces filtering, freezing panes and interpreting CSV data using Excel or similar spreadsheet software, with a step-by-step demonstration to solve one of the six scenarios provided.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Computing scheme of work – videos. It builds teacher confidence in modelling data handling processes and prepares pupils to apply computational thinking to meaningful, real-life situations. The lesson supports cross-curricular links with maths and geography and helps pupils to understand how analysing data can inform everyday decisions, especially within transport networks.
