Understanding plant adaptations and rainforest layers
In this Geography video, teachers are supported in introducing the children about vegetation types and adaptations within the tropical rainforest biome, focusing on how plants and animals are uniquely suited to thrive in their specific layer of the rainforest.
Teachers are guided through clear visuals of key plant features such as buttress roots, drip-tip leaves, smooth bark and lianas, which help plants survive the rainforest’s hot, wet climate. The video then explores the four rainforest layers—forest floor, understory, canopy and emergent—detailing the distinct characteristics of each and the plants and animals found there.
This video is part of Kapow Primary’s Geography climate teacher videos, equipping teachers to deliver structured and engaging lessons that build pupils’ global geographical knowledge.
