Describing your home and family

This French video introduces teachers to a lesson where children combine family vocabulary, possessive pronouns, and house-related language to construct a descriptive text. Pupils revise terms for family members and practice using mon, ma, and mes before adding phrases for locations such as “on the ground floor” and “upstairs”.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s French scheme – home. It demonstrates how to model sentences using the ma maison writing frame. Children learn to describe who lives in their home and what rooms it contains, building towards a complete paragraph. The lesson also supports sentence construction with the conjunction et, preparing pupils for the next session on bedroom items and prepositions.
