Counting to six in french

This French video introduces teachers to a lesson on numbers one to six, using logic puzzles and active games to help pupils work out new vocabulary for themselves. The session begins with a coded number sentence to encourage detective skills, before moving into repetition-based speaking and listening activities. Pupils practise recognising and saying numbers through actions, finger prompts, and a lively group game similar to rock-paper-scissors.

This video is part of Kapow Primary’s French – numbers. It includes ideas for weaving counting into indoor and outdoor activities, from PE warm-ups to traditional games such as le jeu de l’oie (goose game). The lesson plan provides ready-to-use and blank board templates, encouraging pupils to play and even design their own games entirely in French, supporting vocabulary recall, turn-taking, and confidence in speaking.
